II. Entry Requirements
1. Age Requirements
1.1 The minimum age for the marathon is 20 years old in the year of the race (born on or before December 31, 2005).
1.2 The minimum age for the mini health run is 8 years old in the year of the race (born on or before December 31, 2017).
1.3 Notes:
1.3.1 Minors under the age of 18 who register for the race must be accompanied by their legal guardian or authorized representative when collecting race materials before the race. Both the participant and their guardian/representative must be present, and the guardian/representative must sign the Participation Notice and Minor Insurance Disclosure form on site before race materials can be distributed and the participant is allowed to compete.
1.3.2 Minors under the age of 13 must be registered for the same race by their guardian or authorized representative and be accompanied by them throughout the race; otherwise, race materials will not be issued, and the minor will not be allowed to check in or participate.
2. Physical Condition Requirements for Participants
Road running is a high-load, high-intensity, and long-distance competitive sport that carries certain risks. Improper participation may lead to varying degrees of physical injury, and in severe cases, it may even endanger life. Therefore, participants in road running events should be in good physical health and have a foundation of regular running exercise or training.
The following individuals are not recommended to participate in the event:
- Individuals with congenital or rheumatic heart disease;
- Individuals with hypertension or cerebrovascular disease;
- Individuals with myocarditis or other heart conditions;
- Individuals with coronary artery disease or severe arrhythmia;
- Individuals experiencing moderate chest pain during light activity;
- Individuals with high or low blood sugar (diabetes);
- Individuals who have had a cold or abnormal body temperature within two weeks before race day;
- Individuals who drank excessively or had insufficient sleep the night before the race;
- Pregnant women;
- Individuals with other conditions that are unsuitable for physical activity.
Participants are strongly advised to undergo a physical examination at a Class II Grade A or higher hospital within 12 months before the race. The check-up must include blood pressure and one of the following:
- Resting electrocardiogram (ECG)
- 24-hour Holter monitor
- Treadmill stress test
If results show abnormal blood pressure or significant ECG issues (e.g., pronounced bradycardia), a cardiac ultrasound is also required. ECG and cardiac ultrasound are not interchangeable.
Participants should assess their fitness condition in conjunction with their examination results to determine whether they are fit for road running. Any personal injury or property loss due to individual health or other personal reasons shall be borne solely by the participant.
3. Requirements for Senior Participants
Participants aged 70 years and above who register for the marathon event must also meet the following requirements:
3.1 An immediate family member must sign the “Informed Consent Form for Senior Participants” online, acknowledging awareness of the risks involved and agreeing to the participant's entry.
3.2 To ensure the safety of senior participants, a pacer/companion runner must accompany them throughout the entire race. Senior participants are required to submit the information of a successfully pre-registered companion runner during the pre-registration phase.
III. Registration Details

5. Registration Methods for Mass Participants
5.1 The Marathon is limited to 24,000 participants, and the Mini Health Run is limited to 6,000 participants. If the number of registrants for any event or lottery category exceeds the registration limit, entry will be determined through a lottery system with a waiting list mechanism.
5.2 Registration channels: mass participants can register via the official Nanjing Marathon website, Nanjing Marathon WeChat public account, HuiPao Events WeChat public account, "Race Assistant" WeChat mini-program, Nanjing Bank app, and the official WeChat public account of Nanjing Bank.
5.3 Registration process: Visit the official website or program → click “Register” → answer race-related questions (safety reminders and city promotion) → read and agree to the “Race Declaration,” “Health Commitment,” “Civilized Participation Statement,” and “Anti-Doping Knowledge and Medication Safety Reminder” → complete the registration steps → lottery → pay registration fee → obtain participation quota or waiting list status.
5.4 Lottery method: The marathon event is divided into two lottery segments, A and B. 40% of total quota is allocated to segment A and 60% to segment B. All marathon applicants who have met the qualifying standards in A1-level races listed on the “China Marathon” website, held between August 1, 2023, and July 31, 2025, will enter segment A lottery; the rest will enter segment B.
The lottery results will be announced on August 18, 2025, with both successful entries and the waiting list numbers for unsuccessful applicants drawn at once. Registered participants can check the lottery results on the official event website after the announcement.
5.5 Payment of Registration Fee: Successful applicants must pay the registration fee before 17:00 on August 25, 2025; otherwise, they will be deemed to have voluntarily forfeited their qualification. The forfeited spots will be released to waiting list participants with higher priority starting from 10:00 on August 26, 2025.
5.6 Waiting List Payment: Unsuccessful applicants on the waiting list must also pay the registration fee by 17:00 on August 25, 2025; failure to do so will be regarded as a voluntary forfeiture of the waiting list opportunity, and their waiting list number will not be retained.
5.7 Waiting List and Withdrawal:
5.7.1 Waiting List Mechanism:
Participants who have secured a spot but cannot attend may withdraw according to the race’s refund policy by submitting a withdrawal request on the official website. When a participant withdraws, their spot will be filled by the next waiting list participant with the highest priority from the same lottery segment.
5.7.2 Refund Policy:
Participants can initiate refund requests by clicking the “Withdraw Registration” button on their registration details page. Withdrawals on or before September 15, 2025, will receive a full refund of the registration fee. Withdrawals from September 16 to October 8, 2025, will receive an 80% refund. Withdrawals from October 9 to October 26, 2025, will receive a 50% refund. Refunds will be processed within one week after the withdrawal request is received. Withdrawals are not allowed after October 26, 2025. Unsuccessful or waiting list participants who request refunds before obtaining a confirmed spot will receive a full refund.
Participants not admitted from the waiting list by October 26, 2025, will receive a refund within one week.
In the event of race postponement or cancellation, the organizing committee will open a full refund period for all participants, and the refund timeline for waiting list participants will be extended accordingly based on the new race date.
5.8 Charity Entries:
This year’s marathon event offers 500 charity entry spots. Registration is open from August 18 to August 25, 2025. Applicants must pay a total fee of RMB 1,600 per person, consisting of a RMB 200 registration fee and a RMB 1,400 charitable donation. After the charity entry registration closes, a lottery will be held, with results announced on September 1, 2025. Successful applicants will receive charity entry spots for the Nanjing Marathon. Unsuccessful applicants will not be placed on a waiting list, and their fees will be fully refunded within 7 working days. If a successful charity entrant chooses to withdraw, withdrawals made before October 26, 2025, will receive a full refund of the registration fee only; the donation fee is non-refundable.
5.9 Direct-Entry Participants
Participants who meet any of the following criteria will receive automatic entry to the 2025 Nanjing Marathon:
5.9.1 Loyalty Direct-Entry Participants
Marathon participants who meet the registration requirements and have completed the full marathon in the last eight consecutive editions of the Nanjing Marathon. These participants may register for the 2025 marathon without entering the lottery and will be granted direct qualification.
5.9.2 Permanent Bib Direct-Entry Participants
Participants who meet the registration requirements and have been awarded a permanent bib number for the Nanjing Marathon. These participants may register for the 2025 marathon without entering the lottery and will be granted direct qualification.
5.9.3 Nanjing Half Marathon Direct-Entry Participants
Participants who meet the registration requirements and have earned automatic qualification to the 2025 Nanjing Marathon by participating in the 2025 Nanjing Half Marathon. These participants may register for the full marathon without entering the lottery and will be granted direct qualification.
5.9.4 Direct-Entry Participants from the “2025 Nanjing Marathon Talent Running Club” program
Participants of the “Caiyu Jinling · Four Seasons Companion — 2025 Nanjing Marathon Talent Running Club” who meet registration requirements and apply through the “Zijinshan Talent” WeChat public account. Upon passing review, they will be exempt from the lottery and receive direct qualification.
5.9.5 Other Invited Participants
Other specially invited participants include pacers, emergency runners, sponsors, and media partners.
6. Elite Athlete Registration
Elite athletes are divided into International Elites and Domestic Elites:
International Elites are foreign athletes who meet the competition's level standards and eligibility requirements. Domestic Elites are athletes listed in the Anti-Doping Registered Testing Pool managed by the China Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA).
Elite athletes are invited directly by the Organizing Committee and may not register through the general entry system. For elite entry inquiries, please contact the committee via email: elite@ihuipao.com.
7. Running Club Sub-Race
7.1 Eligible Applicants:
Participants must meet the registration requirements for the marathon event as stated in the 2025 Nanjing Marathon Competition Regulations and have completed registration through the official website or designated channels, obtaining qualification to participate in the marathon. Each running team is limited to a maximum of 15 members, including at least 4 female participants. Once a team registration is confirmed, no changes to team members will be accepted. Each participant may only join one team. Elite athletes, pacers, and emergency runners are not eligible to register for the Running Club Sub-Race.
7.2 Registration Method:
The Running Club Sub-Race will open for team formation applications from 10:00 AM on October 9 to 5:00 PM on October 30. Team leaders can create a team by selecting the team competition menu on the official event website or mini-program, enter a team name, and invite qualified participants who have secured race entries. Once the team reaches 15 members, the team formation is complete.
8. Registration for Athletes with Disabilities
The registration and participation of athletes with disabilities in this race shall follow the relevant regulations stated in the notice “Regarding the Participation of Athletes with Disabilities in National Marathons and Related Sporting Events” published on the official website of the Chinese Athletics Association:
8.1 Due to course conditions, this race will not include a wheelchair racing category, and wheelchair racing athletes are not permitted to participate.
8.2 Athletes with disabilities (including those using non-racing wheelchairs) must meet the age and health requirements of each event in the 2025 Nanjing Marathon and pay the registration fee according to the registration requirements.
8.3 Before the start, athletes with visual, hearing, intellectual, or upper limb impairments shall gather and check in at the designated zones together with able-bodied participants. Non-racing wheelchair athletes shall gather, check in, and start from the rear of the last corral of their registered event.
8.4 For the safety of all participants, visually impaired athletes must be accompanied by a guide runner throughout the race. Visually impaired athletes must upload proof of disability and provide the information of a successfully pre-registered guide runner during the pre-registration phase. Other athletes with disabilities are also encouraged to invite a guide runner to participate together.

3. Check-in Credentials
3.1 Participants must present valid original identification documents for check-in, such as a second-generation Chinese Resident Identity Card, Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents, Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents, Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents, Residence Permit for Taiwan Residents, or passports/foreign permanent residence cards for foreign athletes. Please ensure the documents are valid and match the registration information.
3.2 Participants under 18 years old must be checked in by their guardian or legal representative, who must present their original guardian ID, identity card, or household registration book, and accompany the minor.
3.3 Original documents must be presented; without them, race materials will not be issued.
4. Check-in Instructions
Participants must collect their race materials in person. Facial recognition technology will be used on-site to verify identity. The organizing committee reserves the right to refuse issuing race materials if the participant’s identity does not match the documents.
5. Check-in and Mailing Service
5.1 Participants unable to attend the race may apply on the official website within 10 days after the race to have their race materials (excluding bib numbers, timing chips, name badges, and food) mailed to them. Mailing costs are the participant’s responsibility. Specific application procedures will be announced on the official website after the race. Sponsor-provided items must be collected in person and cannot be mailed.
5.2 Timing chips, bib numbers, and race wristbands must be collected personally by the participant with valid ID. On-site verification will be performed, and if identity does not match, the organizing committee may refuse issuance. There will be no material distribution on race morning; participants must collect materials within the designated times and locations.
5.3 Clothing sizes will not be collected during registration. Sizes will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis according to availability and application order; requests may not be fully met.
5.4 Participants may exchange clothing sizes at the collection site if the original packaging is unopened. No exchanges will be allowed if the packaging has been opened.
5.5 Proxy collection is not allowed.
6. Race Wristband Instructions
The race wristband is an essential credential for participation and for claiming finisher souvenirs. Staff will fit wristbands on-site during material distribution. Participants must not remove, damage, or transfer the wristband; otherwise, the organizing committee may refuse access to the start area or refuse to issue finisher souvenirs if the wristband is visibly damaged.
7. Identity Verification
On race day, participant identities will be verified upon entry. Facial recognition technology will be used for identity verification. According to the Personal Information Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, participants who have authorized facial data collection during registration will not need to carry physical ID for identity verification on race day.
